WHY: We are taking action in conjunction with Fall of Freedom, a nationwide call for creative resistance by artists. This grassroots movement (Nov 21-22) harnesses the collective power of arts communities across the country to champion democracy in direct defiance of authoritarian forces that are criminalizing opposition and attempting to silence the freedom of speech and expression. Read more about Fall of Freedom (FallofFreedom.com) in the NYTimes, American Theater Magazine, PEN America.

WHO: MEET THE ORGANIZERS OF DEMOCRACY WRITES! Responding to the FALL OF FREEDOM call, Democracy Writes is organized by Rhonda Zangwill, writer and workshop leader; Cindy Cooper, playwright and reproductive rights activist; Yuko Kudo, visual artist and Prime Produce Apprentice Cooperative (PPAC) host; and Chaski (Saskia Knowles), an organizer of the Cybernetics Library at PPAC.

Special Readings by actors: Shawn Fischer (top) and Abigail Ramsay
